Why So Surly?

893217_814089441537_1136281808_oHi. That’s me. I’ve got helmet hair.
I’m an elementary teacher with a passion for the sciences and I like to ride my bike. That should be evidenced by my beard because all serious riders have beards. Ask anyone. Especially if they have a beard. Beards are awesome.

I also have an unhealthy affinity for LEGO products. Many of you coming to this blog followed my two year-long projects involving the adventures of countless little LEGO minifigures. Don’t worry, I’m still collecting sets and minifigs – there will be more photos in the future. I will also continue to review LEGO related publications from DK and No Starch Press, so stay tuned. My own LEGO photobooks are available on Blurb, while prints & more are available at RedBubble. See the bottom of the blog for links.

What is the purpose of this blog?
I’m not 100% sure yet. I wanted a place to continue sharing photos and books, but also to share other things that just didn’t fit into a wholly LEGO themed blog. I really hate the word blog. Be prepared for pictures of the biking adventures of my wife and I, articles and thoughts on teaching and the [awful] state of education in the US, awesome science, of course LEGO, and general whateverness.

We’ll see where this goes.

If you would like to contact me for any reason (to use photos, suggest something, or comment) shoot me an email: dphelpsphoto[at]gmail[dot]com

Note: Surly Bikes has no affiliation with this page, and I have no affiliation with Surly Bikes. I chose the name for the blog for two reason: 1) I have a Surly bike, 2) I have a surly attitude. It was the perfect pun.
